Correction – The story of Seabiscuit.
Opened on 29/5/1950 with “The story of Seabuscuit” and “The gay ranchero”. Closed in 1987.

I knew Tom Pedler. Met him in the mid 90s when he was trying to revive the Delmar Drive-In Theatre in DE. I looked into purchasing and re-opening this 9W theatre after Tom’s passing but the asking price was ludicrously high.
Should now be listed as demolished. Here is a website about it:

July 5 1969 another crazy Triple feature,Maybe I don’t understand Drive-in Booking. “FINIAN’S RAINBOW”,“SHALAKO” [a pretty violent western },and “HOW TO COMMIT MURDER”.
In the late fifties the Middle Hope Drive-In was operated by Hudson Valley Drive-In Enterprises. Capacity at that time was 450 cars.

Well, it is listed now rody. THE BROOKSIDE DRIVE IN WAS owned by Al Suchman and parked 730 cars in 1956.
Does anyone remember the Brookside Drive-in Theatre, in Newburgh?

I have many fond memories of the Middlehope Drive-in Theatre. I believe there was a playground for children, with swings and a slide, located to the right of the screen. Adjacent to the theatre was the Twin Oakes Restaurant, which had great pizza…we would run over there a bring pizza back to the car! Tuesday nights was always “a dollar a car load” night. Although I have seen many films there, I recall seeing “How To Murder Your Wife”, “Hatari!”,“The Russians Are Coming” and “Anzio”/“The Silencers”. The last film I saw there was “Midnight Cowboy” in 1970 (2nd run).
I drive past the Middlehope every now and then. It looks more and more deteriorated every time I pass, a depressing sight on a depressing stretch of route 9W.
