The Cinema had a water cooled rectifier .. Above was a leaking U bend that dripped on the mercury bulb. :) It closed because of the cost cinemascope….. bearing in mind that the circuit mostly did Cinemascope properly to Fox specifications

I am interested to read that you know the Walham Green Broadway Cinema. Did you happen to go to the place when it had closed as a movie theatre and had stage shows. I saw THE SHADOW OF A GUNMAN there in the mid 1950s and would be very glad to hear of anybody else who either saw that play, or anything else put on at the Broadway then. Can remember this cinema being called a bug hutch..also remember a row of seat collapsing during a film and a attendant hammering them back into the floor as the film was still playing this was back in the early 1950’s
