Lion Theatre

The Lion Theatre, in the Pilsen neighborhood, was in operation from at least 1913. It stood on 18th Street near Paulina Street, not far from Harrison Park. The former theater building still survives today, and serves as a grocery store.

This theater was directly adjacent to the el tracks. In recent years its original white and green glazed brick facade was replaced with plain red brick.

The 1-½ story 24x125' LION Theatre was built by Gust Tompary (3004 S. Park Ave) for owner Louis A. Katsera 0f 1708 W. 18th Street. The architect was A. B. Mills of 2341 Milwaukee Ave.
