Photograph taken on opening day showing close up of splay wall detail. The impressive detail here was a known trade mark of the Walturdaw Supply Co.,Ltd. Here we see a central gilded grille masking the heating and ventilation shaft, fronted by a five tier pendant light fitting, designed by Head Designer Charles Theobalds of F H Pride of Clapham, London who then manufactured and fitted the pendant. Either side are silver Mirrorflex festoon swags complete with hanging golden tassels lit from the base hidden by the silver fluted masking. An identical splay wall was also constructed by Walturdaw when they fitted out the Ritz cinema Chatham. From the Walturdaw Supply Company photographic collection.
