The Coral Theatre originally opened August 30, 1950 by John H. Miller, who also operated movie houses in Heber, Lehi, and Pleasant Grove. It was renamed Towne Theatre on February 29, 1980. The theatre was twinned, and currently seats a total of 583 in both auditoriums. The Towne Theatre screened family-friendly fare on both screens, at the unbelievably lost cost of $1.50. It was closed as a movie theatre in 2019 and presented live performances & special event. Movies returned in October 2023, renamed Maven Cinemas screening Classic movies. It was closed in early June 2024 due to an elecrical fire. On July 12, 2024 it was announced that the closure would be premanent and was offered ‘For Sale’.

This is truly a family operation and is a refreshing change from the corporate mega-plex world. Not a movie “palace”,but definitely an old time experience. The fact that it is so family friendly and inexpensive is great for those big Mormon families. The Deseret News had a great article a few months ago on this operation.I believe the article can be located on the utahtheaters.info site

This reopened as Towne on February 29th, 1980. Ad in photo section.
The Towne is closed and currently for sale. Nice venue although the auditorium was split down the center for two screens
It was closed in 2019 but remained open as a house for live performances and special events. Movies returned in October 2023 as the Maven Cinemas, screening classic movies and even played classic intermission films which is very unique to see. Unfortunately, this didn’t last long, and a small electrical fire at the common space caused the closure in early June 2024. It was announced on July 12, 2024 that the closure would be permanent.
