This silent era theatre was opened on December 21, 1908. It was probably the first nickleodeon in the gold rush town of Oroville, county seat of Butte County.

This is the foyer of the Oro Theatre, ca1910, and a wider view, about the same time.
The movie theater was located at 2060 Montgomery Street according to the maps of today after looking thru the sanborn maps at Chico State. However, the building has been torn down and is now a vacant lot as of this writing.
George A. Scott launched the Oro Theatre in the new Montgomery Building on December 21, 1908 with “A Woman’s Way,” “A House of Cards,” “A Wonderful Fertilizer,” “With Care, “ and a live singer, Miss Mae Howell.
