The Royal Theatre was opened prior to 1911. It was taken over by Universal Pictures in 1925. Later taken over by Fox Midwest Theatres it was renamed Fox Theatre, later becoming the Fox Royal Theatre. It was demolished in 1947 and a new Fox Royal Theatre was built on the site (which has its own page on Cinema Treasures).

The address should be 612. This can’t have opened prior to 1911, since the Dec. 1910 map shows a racket store here. The building was extended to the rear in the conversion. The building dated to sometime before 1883.
