This was very unfortunate the theater was demolished. A new owner had invested a lot of money we doing the inside of the theater. But it could never seem to get business with the Hasidic population Plus the people who went up there on vacation during the summer months.
Demolished two days ago: http://www.recordonline.com/article/20170713/VIDEO/307139982
Apparently it did reopen for awhile for the summer seasons recently, but will apparently not be doing so again: View link

Here is a July 2008 blog that discusses the Hippodrome:

The cinema has been closed since 2006 sadly. The owners spent $300,000 dollars fixing up this gem. Independent films and films aimed at the Hasidic community did not fly. Here is hoping someone will re-open this fine cinema.
This theater was part of the Kallet Theaters chain in the early 1960s.
I found it on a website of a certain movie “Rock School” that my friend starred in. It played there this past July.
The site has not been updated since last spring. I took a ride up there early this summer and met with the owner. The building is in decent shape, and the current owner, a local realtor, wants to further restore the theatre. At the time he was planning a summer slate of art and children’s product, but I have not noticed any advertising all summer for the Hippodrome.
