jm77ok your right I seen the damage but I only the south upper portion of the at roof part
As I stated earlier, the building was damaged by the spray from the fire hoses the night of the fire down the street. You must drive down the alley behind the building to see the damage. It is extensive. A large “Hole” in the side of the building. Animals enter the building at any time and the building is completely open on the south side from the damage. Nothing has been done to repair the damage or close up the building since the night of the fire. Quite a shame.
Nice art deco design and marquee. Looks in good shape.
6I was told new owner bought it in auction at Court House for back taxes. Rumor has it there fixing it up to open back as a tavern.
Would the current owner please contact me, at . I spoke with Rudy and he no longer owns this theater. The fire that burned at the end of the block took a salon and a building next to it. I believe there are still 2 buildings between the demolished burned buildings and the Regal. I haven’t walked around back but, it doesn’t look from the front to have been damaged from the fire or water.
Last info I have is that the building is owned by Jason Pilgrim son of Joann Pilgrim a local realtor. Was damaged in St Patrick’s day fire of building 2 buildings south. Water pressure from fire hoses damaged south side of building and caused upper brick wall to collapse. Now exposed to weather.

Joe- Apparently there was one right across the street. LIBERTY SILENT MOVIE THEATER 2007 St Joseph Avenue. “Known to be in operation September 12, 1920 Edward A Brondridge was the owner The 2007 directory has that address being Floyds Alibi Lounge 2007 St Joseph Avenue would have been directly across the street from the Regal Theater Information donated by Terry Plumb” http://stjosephmemorylane.com/theater.htm
Apparently there may have been one what ended up being right beside it- “The Palace Theater had two locations in town, moving between 1909 & 1915 The 1st Palace theater appeared in the 1908 City Directory The address was 707 Edmond, later becoming the House of Wheels and Toys There is a lot of graffiti on the building side, too bad it isn’t legible In 1909, for some reason, it no longer appeared in city directory In 1915, the Palace Theater once again appeared in the city directory The new address was 2018 St Joseph Avenue, currently Foxy’s Hair Den I would say they were most likely building & moving the new theater”
And then of course, Regal, which used to be called Palace, perhaps rebuilt right next door? “Pallace Theater opened on Thursday, December 21,1922 Movie Shown: Song of Life Last date the Regal was open: Saturday, June 7, 1961 Last shows played: William Holden in The World of Suzie Wong Virgilio Teixeira in The Boy Who Stole A Million Regal Theater on St Joseph Avenue across from the Bottoms Up Bar & Grill They had the best candy selection in town”

Was there a second theater on this block? The August 5, 1926, issue of The Film Daily had an item about new theater projects in St. Joseph which included this paragraph:
A later item said that Simplex projectors had been installed in Mrs. Moskau’s new theater, but didn’t give its name or any other details.last i knew someone bought this place at court house auction. was last owned by rudy pinzinoclosed as theater in early 1960s during 70,80,90, it was a bar.

First opened as the Pallace Theater on Thursday 21Dec1922 Movie Shown that day-Song of Life. Years later became the Regal.
TP on December11,2011 at 12.45pm First opened as the Pallace Theater sometime during the winter of 1922-23. Info came from the St Joseph Mo 1922-23 Winter section of Phone directory.
The Regal was playing Brigitte Bardot in the Adult movie “LOVE IS MY PROFESSION” Adults 75 cents,Children 35 cents.Can’t believe anyone would take a child to that,even though by our STANDARDS today it was probably not much of an Adult film.
