This listing is somewhat confusing. The Bijou opened in May 1903 on the Boardwalk between Arkansas and Michigan, adjacent to the Shelburne Hotel. It was the Savoy that was renamed the Cort, in May 1915. It was located on the Boardwalk at Ocean Avenue. For a time, the Bijou and Cort co-existed on the Boardwalk. In 1920, the Cort was renamed the Woods.

I would be curious to know where this one was. Also, I wonder if it actually opened as a film house in 1903. Seems kind of early.

I’m looking at the list for Atlantic City, and only the Bijou, Capital and Shore are shown as closed and still standing. We know the Bijou has been gone for decades. I have my doubts if the other two are still extant, but I won’t be back in AC for a while to confirm.

According to THS’s Marquee of first quarter 1980,. the Bijou was demolished in 1924.

Status should be closed/demolished.

A Kimball organ was installed in this theatre in 1915 followed by another Kimball in 1917.
