The Midway Drive-In is located east of Quitaque, “midway” between Turkey and Quitaque, Texas. This drive-in opened in 1955 with a capacity for 250 cars. It was operated by C.C. Hamm & Harry Burnhill who operated the Gem Theatre in Turkey.
In 1987 the Midway Drive-In closed and remained closed for thirteen years. Under new ownership it opened again in May of 2000. The Midway Drive-In did not open for the 2005 season but has reopened since 2006. It was closed again at the end of the 2011 season. Unable to afford the purchase of digital projectors, it never reopened.

They were open Summer of 2006.
Drove passed the Midway on 9/1/2007 and they were open this season.

The Midway Drive-in opened up with new owners in 2009. They are open again in 2010 and it appears they will be open every season for now on! Here is their new website: www.midwaydrive-intexas.com
Closed…AGAIN! No listing on Google or Yellow Pages.. The website says ‘See you summer 2012’ not 2013!

Billboard, March 28, 1953: “C. C. Hamm, Quitaque, Tex., and Harry Barnhill, Turkey, Tex., have started construction of a new 200-car capacity drive-in between those two cities. Each operates a standard theater in those towns."
The Midway ended up not opening in 2012. That was the year everything transitioned to digital. The owners did not have enough coming in to pay for a all new digital projector system. It’s a shame, I really liked that old drive-in. Perhaps someone will take it over and restore it in the future.
