There’s no way that dinky little store could have been an actual theater. It’s possible that it was indeed inside the church. The 2008 streetview shows it as Eagle Real Estate, so it had stopped being a church sometime before that.
Internet says the Montgomery Cinema was at 904 S. Sturgeon Street. An unofficial Facebook page lists it as a Movie and Music Store. The address is in a run-down strip mall, and is now home to an outfit called World Finance Loan & Tax Service. A 2-star Google review posted 14 years ago says that Montgomery Cinema was then no longer in business. We should consider the possibility that this was only a video store, not an actual theater, though it could have been both.
Other Internet sources (including CinemaTour) give the address as 300 N. Sturgeon, but that is an enormous old Victorian building, once occupied by the Methodist Episcopal church, and most recently Oliver’s on Sturgeon, a now-closed branch of a restaurant and catering outfit from Warrenton, Missouri. I suppose a cinema might have operated in the former sanctuary at some point, but I’ve found no compelling evidence that it ever did.
I suppose, presuming that the location was correct, (which is certainly dubious with this contributor’s entries), that this must have been the old two story building on the SW corner. There is what might possibly have been a poster case near the door. I’ve changed the address, but I have very low confidence in any of the information in the listing.
I think Chuck probably had the street wrong. The picture, which should be thrown away, is a screencap of a church from the low-quality 2008 streetview. The other corner is a gravel lot (and was in the 2008 streetview). On the W 3rd side of the intersection there’s a cheap modern building that looks like a little barn, and an old 2-story commercial building that doesn’t look like it was ever a theater. Since he didn’t bother to give any history or a description, it’s hard to know which building he meant. Nothing in the immediate area looks anything like a theater, so this should probably be listed as demolished and the address removed.
