The Bison Theater opened on February 2, 1941. It was closed December 17, 1961 with Alan Ladd in “Shane”, Richard Carlson in “Tormented” & Linda Cristal in “The Pharoahs' Woman”. In 1965 it became a disco dance club. By 2024 it was an auto repair shop.

Both the Bison and Mayflower theatres were built using the same blueprint floor plan, but the Bison’s dominant decor was buffalo/Southwestern styling, while the Mayflower held a nautical/sailing ship theme.
I passed by this building today at 23rd and Lottie. I suspect it may be the Bison. Opinions?

Yes roadsideok, your nice photo is that of the former Bison Theatre. Fake rock facade was added during the early 1970’s when this building was used as a nightclub/disco.

It must have been a slick salesman who convinced somebody to cover the exterior with that ugly fake rock front.

Caporal closed this theater for good on Sunday, December 17, 1961 with an eight-year old Paramount classic, SHANE, Bert I Gordon’s TORMENTED from Allied Artists, and Universal’s dubbed import THE PHARAOH’S WOMAN.
This opened on February 2nd, 1941. Grand opening ad in the photo section.
After closing as a movie house in 1961, the Bison was converted to a disco dance club in 1965. The dance club was short lived due to a deteriorating neighborhood. Today the structure is used as an automotive repair shop.
