Hicksville, NY: Showcase Cinema de Lux Broadway Closing in January [Oct 4, 2024]
National Amusements announced in October of 2024 that it would close here at the expiry of its lease in early 2025 as the company continued winding down its operational footprint.
Just uploaded some exterior pictures of the theatre
Please update, 855 seats.
Please update, theatre open May 19, 1995
Please rename Showcase Cinema de Lux Broadway
This is now a Showcase Cinema offering recliners and reserved seating.
The theater got refurbished with stadium seating recliners, new carpet and new entrance for the theaters.
Fan,Fea, they can contact me, i have plenty of old one-sheets.I think Modern Posters come no where near the old stuff. And I have BOXES of that too.
I can not believe that they sold all those beautiful movie posters that graced the escalator area. Well I can believe it, because they were worth a lot of money. Painting the empty spaces with different colored paint kind of makes everything look ridiculous. At least fill the spaces with modern posters that don’t cost anything to the theater.
Looks like someone pointed the street view at the IKEA entrance adjacent to the Mall. One can actually navigate the perimter roads within the Broadway Mall parking lot, but best shot you’d be able to get would be of the entrance by Macy’s.
This building started out as a Kleins dept. store and then a Korvettes dept. store before the theaters came in.
One of the under performing NATIONAL AMUSEMENT THEATERS.
This is one of more than 70 cinema projects which have been designed for National Amusements by the Boston-based architectural firm Beacon Architectural Associates.
Theatre is located adjacent to the food court inside the Broadway Mall in Hicksville. The only National Amusements theatre on Long Island that is not a free standing structure. The complex was built before stadium seating became the norm.
