The Georgia Theatre Company constructed about three or four multiplexes during the mid-1980’s in the Atlanta area that were identical in both design and layout. The Shannon 8 was of this group, opening on December 21, 1984. United Artist acquired the Georgia Theatre Company a short while after these theatres opened. When UA folded in 2000, these theatres closed in 2001.

The Theather opened up in the fall of'84. I saw alot of good movie there. It closed in 2000. Now boarded up. Sad.

Though not a palace, the Shannon 8 was a nice place to see a movie. At least people behaved during the movies unlike its Southlake counterpart.
One evening, a friend and I went and saw “Flowers In The Attic” then sneaked over and saw “Nuts” at an auditorium on the other end of the theater.

This was finally demolished sometime in the past month or two.
