Opened as a 3-screen cinema in 1997. It expanded to 8-screens in 1999. In 2006 it was renamed Movie Magic 8 Cinemas. Later renamed Hollywood Cinemas. In early-2019 it was renamed Westside Cinemas. It was renamed Movie Rocket in June 2021 and closed on July 13, 2023. It reopened as Hollywood Cinemas on July 28, 2023 and closed on February 7, 2024.

This cinema complex is still operating as of 2009, but had been purchased by a new owner a few years ago and now goes under the name of Movie Magic. It continues to exhibit mostly second-run films at discounted ticket prices.

I’ve been to the Movie Magic and it wasn’t a half bad theatre especially for the price and being compared to the other local first run cinema in Bangor

I agree that it’s quite a bargain actually. Also the new management seems to keep up better with maintenance needs.

This opened as Movie City Cinemas in 1997 with three cinemas and expanded to 8 screens in 1999. It is renamed Movie Magic in 2006.

Was renamed Hollywood Cinemas and currently the website shows it as Westside Cinemas. Showing first-run films. http://westside.bangorfunplex.com/

Hollywood Cinemas currently has 7 screens and not 8. This seems to have occurred in 2013 when the Dinner and a Show theater opened. Ever since, only 7 screens have been advertised. The link to the website needs to be fixed, it is http://westside.bangorfunplex.com/ Adding the www makes it dead. Thank you.

Closed as the Movie Rocket on July 13, 2023. Reopened for the second time as Hollywood Cinemas on July 28, 2023. Closed on February 7, 2024.
