The Strand opened in 1914, located on Lincoln Avenue near Southport Avenue and Wellington Avenue in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. By the 1940’s, the theater had been renamed the City Theater, which operated into the 1960’s. After closing the building housed a carpeting store. It was demolished in August 2024.

This building still retains its original, operational stud lighting on the facade, which makes it somewhat unique.

CHICAGO-G&E Theatre Corp. has acquired the Lincoln Theatre and the City Theatre, 3031 N. Lincoln. The latter will be managed by S. J. Angelos. The theatres were previously owned and operated by the CVN circuit.

In the Chicago Tribune the City appears in movie theater listings until 1950, by 1956 an electronics store is listed at this address.
This theatre is now in the process of being demolished.
