This was a first run theatre in the Oyster Bay area of Long Island. The Pine Hollow Theatre was opened on October 19, 1962 with Anthony Quinn in “Requiem for a Heavyweight”. Originally a single screen, the Pine Hollow Theatre was operated by Skouras Theatres. It was later twinned and taken over by United Artists and re-named Movies at Pine Hollow. In 1978 it was renamed Oyster Bay Movies. Since closing in 1984 it has become an auto dealership.

one of the few smaller theatres that was ahrd ticket from time to time.wally75
I remember seeing “Carrie” here in late ‘76. During the last scene, everyone in the packed house screamed and jumped out of his/her seat, then laughed – we had all known a scare was coming, but were fooled anyway. That’s what makes the collective experience of movie-going so great.
I remenber the Oyster Bay Movie theatre. But, I have vivid memories of the “Pine Hollow Movie Theatre” (where the BMW dealership is now). I worked there foe several years and was also manager for a short time while I was going to school. Lots of great memories with friends there!!!!!!!!
The 600-seat Pine Hollow Theatre was designed by architect Drew Eberson. The recently opened theater was the subject of an illustrated article in the Modern Theatre section of Boxoffice Magazine’s issue of March 4, 1963. The house was originally operated by Skouras Theatres.
I believe this was twinned at the end of it’s life.
BMW dealership is thriving.
