The Redland Drive-In is located to the north of Lufkin on US-59. It was opened by 1950 when it was operated by Julius Gordon, Jefferson Amusements Co. It ended its days as a XXX theatre, closing in 1991. These days, the lot is inhabited by a salvage yard.

It was announced in February 2021 that the drive-in would possibly be renovated and reopened hopefully by late-May 2021. This was not to be as it was demolished in February 2021.

Is the land in that area red, hence the name of the drive-in theatre?

Yep, I checked. It’s demolished.

The Redland Drive-In was once under a judgement rule in May 1952.

I just read these latest comments. Giving us high hope that this drive-in was going to be revived, then suddenly it’s demolished. I don’t believe it

Wow! How strange is this?? TO be renovated then tore down? Sounds fishy to me as it sounds to me, that some one or some people did not want this drive in to re-open!!! AS it sat unused for many years.
