This was a very small, one-screen theatre which opened as the Jerry Lewis Cinema on January 12, 1973, in the Hometown Plaza shopping center. The opening film was Charles Bronson in “The Mechanic”. By April 1, 1973, the theater was renamed Hometown Cinema.
It closed at the beginning of June 1974 ‘due to lack of business’ per the Suburban Economist newspaper, but reopened under new ownership in late-October 1974. The only movie I recall seeing there was “Sounder”, starring Cicely Tyson.
The last movie listings for the theatre are for the end of April 1976, when it is assumed the theatre was closed. After the movie theatre closed, the structure became an auto parts store.

Jerry Lewis Cinemas became known as mom and pop theaters, and were twins that could be operated from the switches near the concession. Stage 212 in LaSalle, IL, was a former Jerry Lewis Cinema and is now their live theater.
