Located in the Preakness Shopping Center. The Skouras-Wayne Theatre was opened on January 8, 1965 with Frank Sinatra & Dean Martin in “Two For Texas”. All seating was on a single floor. On July 25, 1986 it was renamed UA The Movies at the Wayne Theatre. Two more screens were added in October 31, 1986. I used to go to this theatre when I used to live in the Clifton area and hung out with my stepmom. Among the movies I saw at this theatre were kid stuff like “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”, “Bean”, and sci-fi stuff like “Star Trek: First Contact”. The theatre usually has some of the longest lines I ever saw. Today it still survives as a cinema despite competition from the AMC Loews Wayne Theatre and the much smaller Valleyview Cinemas. In June 2013, Bow-Tie Cinemas took over, when they took the Clearview locations. In 2019 it was taken over by an independent operator and renamed Wayne Movietown.
It was closed on March 17, 2020 due to Covid-19 pandemic.

Bow Tie hasn’t made too many physical changes as it was the rare all digital Clearview location (most had a digital screen or two for 3D) and it was in good shape. Very few artifacts from the photographs remain (in public view) unfortunately just the flooring in the front lobby and a series of bars (also visible in the lobby) – the rest is modern with the concession stand having undergone a renovation within the last few years of Clearview’s run.
As far as I know, it was never equipped with 70mm when it was a UA house.
I remember when I was the screen cleaner for Clearview, I went here a few times. It was a really nice theatre. From what I was told it started out a single, then UA added a second screen next door, then split both the original house and the addition to make it 4. Screen sizes were nice.
Advance tickets are on sale for the avengers movie Here while loews doesn’t have it. Next year cinemark will provide competition for this theater and AMC.
If you use the address 19 Preakness Shopping Center at Google Maps, the pin icon fetches up exactly in front of the theater entrance, and you can get this street view.
Ever-unreliable Google Maps broke my earlier link. Maybe they won’t break this one. (As if!)
This opened on July 25th, 1986. Grand opening ad posted.
Not 100 percent sure, the webpage is still operational http://www.waynemovietown.com/
Please update, it became a quad on October 31, 1986. (Grand Opening ad in photos). Currently, the theatre is still closed, hasn’t reopened since Covid-19 started in March 2020
Decent size auditoriums here. As they have almost 1200 seats total. Unfortunately they never reopened after the virus situation. This is unfortunate. Don’t know if anyone will ever take the theater over and open it again. Doesn’t look likely though
