Please update, 8 screens on December 15, 1989 and 14 screens on June 7, 1996 (Grand Reopening ad posted in photos)

The theatre just reopened today and theatre 1 and 2 is still not open.

Please correct, the 8 new screens opened in summer 1996. I saw The Rock and Trainspotting in the new houses many a time that summer.

Belay my comment above. I heard something completely different today. One says it’s gone, the other says it’s staying. We’ll see.

AMC just renovated the theatre

MarkNYLA on May 19, 2020 at 5:33 pm

I noticed a “PROPERTY AVAILABLE” sign on the theater today. I guess that’s a wrap for the Wayne 14.

Does anyone know why theatres 1 and 2 haven’t open yet?

ridethectrain on February 5, 2020 at 2:48 pm

You might want to add to the description the theatre is in direct competition with the Cinemark Willowbrook Mall. Both theatres are on the mall property and now both AMC and Cinemark show the same films.

RHETT52, Ive been going to the Cinemark in Hazlet for many years, and I can say that at least there they have kept the theatre in top notch condition and have never had projection issues or any issues.

RHETT52 on December 24, 2019 at 5:49 am

After one too many poor experiences at this theater, have now been a regular at the new Cinemark. Spend a few years there before it starts to go downhill.

moviebuff82 on November 16, 2019 at 10:13 am

next week Cinemark opens its doors so hopefully it’s a better well kept theater than this one, which is showing its age despite its renovations and expansions from the original six screens nearly 37 years ago.

Was set to watch MOTHERLESS BROOKLYN but as the lights went down a mouse came running past me. I left the theater. Where there’s one, there’s many

moviebuff82 on October 10, 2019 at 4:35 am

1997 was when they expanded to 14.

Gemini Man is playing in HFR in AMC Prime. Going tonight. Wonder how it’ll compare to other premium HFR.

On November 17, 1989 Loews added two screens to go to 8 screens. Can’t figure out when they eventually got to 14 screens?

RHETT52 on July 15, 2019 at 10:21 am

What is happening with theaters #1 and #2 at the back. They seem to be for storage and are closed off. Are they going to renovate? Maybe they could use them for independent and classic film showings. YEA RIGHT!

These theatres do not have the right formats programmed in on their projectors. When digital is first set up, there are all types of formats they program. One is for events. They set it up to match everything to the theatres Flat and Scope images. If this was never done, or if the settings called macros are lost (which can happen in an extreme software or hardware failure), then it reverts to a pre set ratio, which is what you saw yesterday. I always to Cinemark in Hazlet and have not had any problems yet.

TCM screening of MY FAIR LADY today, was really looking forward to seeing it on their NEW giant screen, unfortunately, they dropped the ball again and I got ripped off. The movie was projected flat 1:85 with the panavision wide screen image letterboxed inside the flat frame, so what we got was a huge screen with this much smaller image inside the frame,…. for THIS film. They didn’t adjust the projector. I told an employee, she radioed it in but nothing came of it. AMC Wayne, Clifton do this all the time, screw up the TCM screenings, with Ben-Hur and Lawrence of Arabia coming up, I’ll skip those too. The problem is management and employees who know nothing about the full movie experience, usually on their phones. BTW…this is the 2nd time I got burned for MY FAIR LADY, the last time I saw it was at the now closed BELLEVUE in Montclair and they did the same thing. Cursed!!!

Theater is now called AMC Wayne 14.

moviebuff82 on October 21, 2018 at 5:31 pm

All 14 screens now complete. Theater is still advertised as a loews but that will change soon.

moviebuff82 on August 24, 2018 at 3:41 pm

Prime at AMC is coming and reserved seating is now available at several screens.
