The Roxy, which was located on Washington Street near Fremont Street, seated around 500. The theater opened in 1936 and in 1941 was acquired by the Valos Theaters chain, which operated a number of suburban theaters in the 40s and 50s. It closed in 1956 and was converted into an American Legion hall. The building was destroyed by a fire in 1965.

GEORGE VALOS ANNOUNCES PURCHASE OF ROXY THEATER
George T. Valos, operator of theaters in Wheaton and Geneva, has announced his acquisition of the Roxy Theater in West Chicago. Steve Uvardy, veteran theater man, has been retained as manager.
With the change in ownership the Roxy’s film policy has been enlarged to include contracts with all of the major film companies, thus assuring patrons of the opportunity to enjoy the best films. Inaugurating the new policy will be “Gone with Wind,” starting Sunday, June 22.
The Roxy Theatre opened in 1936 and closed in 1956. It was converted into an American Legion Hall, which was destroyed by fire in 1965.
