Interesting article about how nobody knows who actually owns the building.

The Westborough Stadium 12 was one of at least two multiplexes designed for Hoyts Cinemas by the Boston firm Thomas Bakalars Architects. There are a few photos at the firm’s web site. There are also photos of Hoyts Cinema 10 in Augusta, Maine.

Thomas Bakalars also designed the renovation of the Alamo Theatre in Bucksport, Maine, as the headquarters of Northeast Historic Film.

This theatre opened around 97 and built by Hoyts. As an employee of Hoyts at the time, I was in attendance for the opening.

The opening also had many delays due to construction. In fact, if you look up in the lobby, you can see the cieling was never completed.

BTW, the location for the Solomon Pond Mall is Marlborough as per the USPS, however, the cinema is physically in Berlin – If memory serves correct, the entire cinema portion is in Berlin.

Might be worth a letter to the editor of the local newspaper as well (probably the MetroWest Daily News)

lisag- if you had not intervened your child would be out $10. You should file a written complaint to the theatre manager, and also to the head office of Regal Entertainment Group, the operators of the cinema. This is a sleazy incident.

I am writing to let people know about an employee by the name of John that works at the snack bar at the Westboro Stadium 12 theatre in Westboro Mass. My daughter who is 12 years old went to the movies on New Years Day. She had a gift card for $25.00. She purchased the movie ticket for $7.50 then proceeded to the snack bar and spend another $7.50. “John” told her that she had a $0.00 balance on her card and he kept the card. She text me from the movie and I went to the theatre and talked to a woman behind the snack counter and told her my story. (she wasn’t very pleasant) She went through a couple trash barrels and said she could not find the ticket. I heard her say to an employee “hey John, do you have a gift card?” and he said “yes, I put it in my pocket my mistake”. The woman handed me the gift card with the receipit with a balance of $10.00 on it. I wonder how many other children the employee ripped off? It’s pretty sad that you can’t even trust kids these days….ripping off a 12 year old girl. Unbelievable!!

The Solomon Pond mall appears to straddle the Marlboro-Berlin line. Regal’s web site gives it an address of 591 Donald Lynch Blvd. in Marlboro, but the Boston Globe movie ad lists it in Berlin. In any event, it is a different theatre than the one listed on this page.

Good job of getting the facts, guys! Is the Solomon Pond Mall in Berlin too?

The Globe says this theatre is called the “Westborough Stadium 12”, so both the city and the number of screens need to be corrected.

And the Solomon Pond theatre is in Berlin, not Northboro.

Oh, and the Solomon Pond Mall is in Northboro.

Kevin, this theatre isn’t in the Solomon Pond Mall. It’s on Rte 9 in Westboro Mass.
