Cinema Bijou

A neighborhood cinema in Montreal. The Cinema Bijou was opened on May 7, 1947 with “L'Elernd Retour” & Al Pearce in “One Exciting Week”. Still open in 1988 it ended its days operating as an adult movie theatre. By 2019 it is occupied by the Ancient Mystic Odeon of the Rose.

Interesting – a movie theatre not only in the middle of a neighborhood, but apparently in the middle of a residential neighborhood; don’t see that all too often…

This was owned by France-Film. Adult movies were shown in later years.
