bmt gaylynn

The Gaylynn Theatre was opened November 18, 1949 with Virginia Mayo in “The Girl From Jones Beach”. I had many dates at the Gaylynn Theatre. I remember that it was on 11th Street, which was the main drag for the high school students on weekends. It was twinned on June 20, 1975.

Looks like it opened on 11/18/49. Here is a link to an artist’s interpretation of the theater from 1956:

Unfortunately, the artist also reports this theater as demolished.

Site is now part of a hospital:

St. Elizabeth’s Hospital breaks ground on $95 million improvement
11/19/2002 CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Beaumont officially broke ground on $95 million in improvements that have already been underway. The new improvements include an outpatient center, a five-story medical office building and a six-story parking garage all attached to the hospital by overhead walkways. The new improvements will be at the site of the old Gaylynn Theater, which was torn down in September. The expansion will enable the hospital to serve more patients and improve their accessibility to services, said Ed Meyers, president of Christus Health Southeast Texas.
