The Victoria Theatre was located near the corner of S. 26th Street and Federal Street. It was a block west of the Arlo Theatre. The 900-seat Victoria Theatre was opened on June 14, 1920 with Ben Turpin in “Down on the Farm”. Actress’s Dorothy & Lilian Gish appeared ‘In Person’ on the opening night. It was closed April 26, 1952 with Johnny Sands in “Aladdin and His Lamp” & Rod Cameron in “Fort Osage”.

Film Daily Yearbooks, 1941 & 1943 give the Victoria Theatre a seating capacity of 900. In the 1950 edition of F.D.Y.B. seating is given as 800.

Samuel Varbalow and family owned the Savar Movie Corporation, which owned the Victoria, among others.

This a 1994 photo. The super discount store has replaced the Victoria, which has been demolished.
