Closed on September 20, 1977 with “The Deep” and “Fun With Dick And Jane”.
Grand opening ad from the Star Ledger posted.
Opened on 17/8/1955 with “Lady and the Tramp” and “Tall man riding”. Closed in 1977. The site is now Arlington Plaza Shopping Center.
Was open in 1957, closed sometime in the 70’s.
Approx. address for this drive-in was 808 U.S. 46, Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ 07054.
Listed in the 1963 and 1970 IMPAs as the Troy Hills Drive-In in Parsippany. Capacity was 750 cars. Operator was Eastern Management Corp.
It must have been 1960 then based upon my memories.
As a kid, Dad would drive us out from NYC and pick from the 3 Drive-Ins on Rt. 3 & Rt. 46 (this one was furthest, The Totawa and the Rt 3 were the other two)
It opened in the 1960’s.
Anyone know when it opened. My 1956 filmbook does not have it listed.
I recall seeing Victor Mature in Hannibal, A Dog of Flanders, 13 Fighting Men around 1960.
Looking at a Cue Magazine from 1970, this was the only DI in NY-NJ that week to program AL CAPONE-KING OF THE ROARING 20s-YOUNG DILLINGER. Great DI fare. The other DIs were cashing in on the early days of soft core sexploitation flics; and other DI fodder…..the weekly biker films. j
Torn down in the 1970s. http://www.drive-ins.com/theater/njttroy
There is a K-Mart and Shop Rite on the site now…right near where Route 46 (then known as Rt. 6) and I-80 meet.
