Replacing an earlier Hill Theatre. The New Hill Theatre was opened on April 8, 1938 with Bob Burns in “Radio City Revels”. It closed as a regular movie theatre on November 20, 1965 with Elvis Presley in “Harum Scarum”. It reopened in the 1970’s as an adult theatre.
Currently used as the “Hill Theatre Studio”, a studio for making short films and television commercials. They do offer rare screenings.

This is one of the only studios in the Tri-state area. They have done Reebok commercials with Allen Iverson, the makeout rain scene for Kevin Smith’s “Chasing Amy”, and they just did the rain for Nicolas Cage’s new film “Atlantis”. The studio used to be one of the oldest movie theatres in South Jersey, although the seats have been ripped out, but the old movie theatre lobby still exists. The film will be projected on a thirty foot high seamless green screen that will be painted white for the best projection.

Opened as the New Hill Theatre replacing a previous Hill Theatre. Herbert Hill opened on April 8, 1938 with “Radio City Revels.” It was converted to a TV production studio early in the 21st Century
Closed as a movie house on November 20, 1965 with Elvis in “Harum Scarum”.
Must have made a comeback as I can recall controversy over an owner switching from mainstream films to porn in the ‘70s.
