Still an empty lot as of Late 2023
Demolished, with plans to become a Royal Farms.
December 22nd, 1971 grand opening ad in the photo section.
looks abandoned by the time the Googlemobile passed it by
I never snuck into this theater, Mike. Just the Deptford ones because I was young and immature.
Marion, why are you complaining don’t you sneak into theatres “100 times”
I couldn’t even count how many times I drove past this theater on the way to Philly. My mother wouldn’t drive on the Expressway, so we always took the White Horse Pike the entire 60 miles from AC to Philadelphia. The Eric was on the south side of the street across from the train station. The theater was set back quite a distance, but there was a marquee on the street as you drove by.
Saw “Star Wars” here during it’s initial run in ‘77.
This is where I saw my first movie, Star Trek 1. I was 2, and can still remember it like it was yesterday. I als saw Star Trek 3 and Tremors there. Stale popcorn, bad sound, and poorly lit parking lot asside, it was always a great time.
Listed as a 2 screen in the 1991 International Motion Picture Almanac under the United Artists' listing.
this place is now a chinese buffett.
I believe the Eric Strafford Twin closed as United Artists Strafford Twin in the early 1990’s, but I am not sure. If anyone konws, please confirm it.
The Route 38 Twin became an Eric theater in the early 1980s. Its main competitor was the Cherry Hill Mall Twin Cinema inside the Cherry Hill Mall. The Rt 38 Twin became the only theatre in Cherry Hill after the Cherry Hill Mall Cinema closed in the late 80s, and it closed somewhere around 1991.
Thanks Rick. I was’t sure when I posted that.
The Route 38 Twin was in Cherry Hill, near the mall. This one is on Route 30, across from the Lindenwold PATCO train terminal. As far as I know this one was always an Eric operation.
The theater was built in the late 60' sbut was originallybuilt by RKO/Stanley Warner called the RKO Route 38 Twin. It became an Eric theater when they purchased the chain in the early 70’s
