HenryBL: There was a double feature making the rounds of the Drive Ins in 1962 of “Jack The Giant Killer” with Kerwin Matthews as the first feature and Connery’s “Dr. No” as the second feature. I was about 12 years old at the time when it played near me and it was my introduction to James Bond. I then immediately went and purchased all the Bond books which were available at that time.

I saw “Dr. No” at the Timonium Drive-In in 1962! We lived in Parkville. I was one of four children. My parents had a Ford “Colony Park” station wagon with the fake wood on the sides. It was a double-feature. There was a kids feature first that I don’t remember. My younger brothers and sister fell asleep in the back of the wagon, and then, “Dr. No” came on. To say I fell in love with movies that night was an understatement! I sat in the back seat, looking up at the screen, between my parents and I loved every moment of that film! I was six and really sucked in! What a great Drive-In! I loved the intros and filmed announcements “Three Minutes to Show Time!”. What a great way to be introduced to film!

This opened on August 3rd, 1955 with the World’s largest CinemaScope screen. Grand opening ad in the photo section. Fun for the whole family… for the price of a sitter!

The address provided is incorrect.

The correct address for this Drive-in is 2034 Greenspring Dr, Timonium, MD 21093.

The entrance road is the entrance road for Loyola University. The theater itself is now the Timonium Business Park.

Please update.

The above address will map accurately to the location of the drive-in.

Yes, it was a massive drive-in — the back row was a full ¼-mile away from the screen.

I use to pass it on my way to work at “Shakey’s” Pizza. Another memory gone.
