@jcstuart – do you still have pictures of that space? I’m working on a blog for #nohu (north hudson) and would love to feature an article on this space with your photos (credited of course). Also did you make any segue with the town officials? I may have an investor interested in making it a community space for cultural affairs.

I live in front of it Gosh this place always got my attention. The place is still closed, it’s in good shape and I think that they rent the parking lot. I always wanted to go inside but I don’t want to go to jail lol

I got in and posted some pictures of the space – discussing with town officials about its use

@spectrum, not sure if it’s currently being used but I got a tour of the theater sometime after it closed down. Maybe in 2011. Though nothing was boarded up, it didn’t look very nice. I don’t think anyone was maintaining it. There’s also lots of graffiti.

Interesting from the aerial view: Long lobby and then you turn left to enter the auditorium – fairly wide auditorium. But then the stage house is backing up against the street – surprising to see valuable street frontage taken up with the stagehouse!

The current Google Street View, the front is still in great shape, can still look through clear glass on the doors – nothing’s boarded up. I wonder if it’s currently being used for anything. A very ornate façade which (although completely painted white) is still in very good shape.

Now that I look again that is a different Mayfair, Loews Mayfair was on Broad Street in Times Square. As in the photo listed above.

I did a video screening here the other night. They are using the balcony as a projection booth for the original screen. Very strange looking up from there seeing the original seat still in place and chandelier too. I went into the original booth and was attacked by pigeons. The projectors are not there but everything else is still in place including tons of very old trailers and film.
