Apollo Twin Drive-In
The Garland Road closed at the end of February 1966. But Tri-State Theaters / McLendon Theaters continued its space-aged theme of multiscreen drive-ins at the location. The operators of Gemini and Astro drive-in added the Apollo Twin Drive-In to this spot. The Apollo was a $2 million drive-in on a 30 acre lot for a 1,800 cars. This architect’s sketching is low in quality but if you squint just right, you can make out the layout. The theater would be demolished later replaced by Wal-Mart’s 24-hour concept store, The Hypermart.
