The Garland Road Drive-In kicked off on April 7th, 1950 with searchlights and a circus calliope band wagon featuring Charla. Opening feature was “Oh You Beautiful Doll”. This was a drive-in boom period for Dallas-Fort Worth with the South Loop opening a week earlier and Leon Theaters adding the Hampton Road and Denton Road to its Garland Road for a three theater circuit.
