One of the lead stars Geraldine Chaplin was lined up to attend the Sydney “Doctor Zhivago” premiere on 4 May 1966, however Charlie’s daughter was a late no-show (sending her apologies). In conjunction with the launch MGM had arranged with local retailer Grace Brothers for a ‘Girl With The Zhivago Look’ quest. What was effectively a Geraldine Chaplin lookalike contest ended with a final judging at Roselands Shopping Centre on 18 June. (Miss Pender didn’t win).
