The Clock could be seen and heard from a distance. This photo shows the fish and chip shop from which patrons of the theatre would patronise at interval; others may prefer to partake of ice creams and lollies from the cafe on the other side of the theatre. The pie man was there for those who preferred a hot pie at interval.

Nathan Miller writes - The Star theatre where two firemen died when it burnt down. The projector fell on them when they went in to fight the fire.

Roger Green writes - We witnessed the wonderful old Star theatre burn down on a Sunday morning in 1959. It was a sad loss of an iconic cinema.
