From my ‘Terry Photo’ movie ad collection here is a newspaper ad from the 1940 film ‘Northwest Passage’ Last day playing at the California Theatre. When they did the renovation many years ago they put in a small screen downstairs. The cinema has been closed for many years and was about to torn down for apartments but now some one new has purchased the ‘California Theatre’ and they are in the adult entertainment business. Downtown Berkeley has no more movie theatres so maybe It will re open some day? Still has a great neon marquee.
