Former Villard Hotel bellhop Jacob “Jackie” Nicholas Hecker admits to burning down the Villard Hotel on January 20, 1949 and that building on the left is the former Strand Theatre turned Red Owl which is decimated in the famous fire. Hecker will also admit to the St. Charles Hotel fire a year later.
