Prospective drawing from my Eugene Mollo collection shows the proposed entrance foyer, realised in the next picture. The Opening Ceremony was at 7.15pm on Thursday 26th September 1935 performed by George Lansbury leader of the Labour Party, who congratulated the whole enterprise. ‘This Cinema has been marvellously transformed both internally and externally by Kemp and Tasker the Architects and Messrs Mollo and Egan the decorative artists into a modern 1200 seat cinema’.
