Wintergarden was full to overflowing with Service personnel on the night of 16th July 1944, attending the first concert of an Australian tour ‘singing for the boys’ by world famous soprano Marjorie Lawrence (1907-1979). Her life story was filmed by MGM in 1955 as “Interrupted Melody”.
