PADUA THEATRE BRUNSWICK VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA – 1937 Advertisment. By 1968 Hoyts could no longer sustain the Padua and sold it to a large insurance company. During the next decade it became The Metropolitan Theatre screening Italian language productions.
To quote author Laurie Cunningham : There are many nostalgic picture theatre lovers who feel that Sydney Road has not been the same since 1982 when the wreckers hammer demolished the beautiful Padua Picture Theatre. No one who ever went there can forget the stunning features of this wonderful Picture Palace which set it apart from any other theatre.
