This commemorative stone tablet is inside the theatre, adjacent to the box office. It’s rather curious, as it was laid in March 1974 and commemorates “Tewkesbury Film Theatre”. The town’s only purpose-built cinema, the Sabrina, had closed in September 1963, and perhaps what was to become the Roses Theatre (which opened in October 1975) was originally intended to be a full-time cinema. (Staff on duty during my visit were unable to enlighten me.)
