…yeah – his name was Lester Altman – I remember the layout of the theater very well – I did some paintings for his lobby too – a scene in the movie “Cape Fear” was filmed inside the theater…the ticket taker was from New York – actor – and he told me about when they were filming – the trailer in the back and a bit about Nick Nolte…so much character in those early days – people, places – life was a couple of notches up in terms of meaning and purpose…
I knew the owner of the Hollywood Cinema over the years 1986 – 1990 or so. I can’t remember his name, but he was a WWII vet – air force. He flew bombers I think – B- 17s or B – 29s. He flew bombers for Chiang Kai Chek after the war too. I was just out of the army and he let me stay in the theater for a while – heck of a nice guy. I couldn’t remember his name so I went online and wound up here. He was well known around Hollywood and had an apartment for himself and his wife in Hallandale I believe – I wish I could remember his name…
You could smoke in the theater and I got to know the candy lady and the ticket taker too – nice people…
