Most famous (to me, at least) as the location where Aretha Franklin recorded her “Amazing Grace” album and documentary film.

Used to go here a lot as a kid. Only two specific memories: (Odd how selective memories can be.)

1) Sobbing uncontrollably at the end of “King of Kings” (1961). (I was a sensitive kid!)

2) Sitting thru “PT 109” (1963) over and over.

Walked in a few years ago when I noticed the door was open. Very nice pastor showed me around the auditorium.

Grew up a couple of blocks from this theater. Only have two specific memories:

1) Seeing “Dr. Strangelove” with my Dad (this would have been during it’s original release), and us being the only two people in the theater laughing.

2) Seeing some cheesy Matt Helm double bill during my early adolescence.

I’d love to have someone set up a tour for theater enthusiasts. I’ve always been curious what the inside looks like (I know it was converted to a recording studio), and what theater features might still exist.

I would have seen a lot of movies here in the early to mid 60s—but the only one I can remember is “Journey to the Seventh Planet”—probably because it scared the cheese out of me. I’ll bet I sat thru it more than once. Good times.
