Per it’s NEW website:

Oceana Theater is an ideal venue for concerts, theatrical performances, comedy shows, as well as corporate events, conferences, political meetings, and so on.

Oceana Theater was opened in 1934. Known later on as the Atlantic Oceana, the Millennium Theater and the Master Theater, in 2022 the theater returned to its historical name.

Now is a modern, excellently equipped 1326-seat venue located in the heart of South Brooklyn’s immensely popular Brighton Beach Area, by the beautiful ocean beaches, near convenient transportation means (subway, easy driving access).

“Oceana Theater” is a household brand name among the fun-loving and diverse crowd of Brooklyn residents. World-famous artists of a great variety, beloved ballet and drama troupes, as well as an endless list of dazzling pop performers from various countries of the world, have honored the stage with their talent and fame. The theater is outfitted with cutting-edge sound and lighting equipment. It includes an extremely powerful, high-quality surround sound system carefully adjusted to the dimensions of the theater, capable of infinite adjustments to all various kinds of artist line-ups. A multi-dimension, computerized stage lighting system provides dazzling light support to any kind of performance, from classical ballet to pop and rock concerts. The theater is equipped with LED screen that add to the beauty and excitement of any performance. The theater’s professional team of sound, lighting and video engineers competently use wonders of modern technology to greatly enhance the excitement of any performance.

Bring beauty and excitement into your life and business with Oceana Theater, one of New York’s best multi-profile venues.

Please note, that we do not have an elevator or wheelchair ramp. The Oceana Theater is located on the 2nd floor of the building that is unfortunately not ADA-compliant (it was built in the early 1900s and falls under a “grandfather clause”), so the Oceana Theater does not offer disability services such as wheelchair accessibility. We apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Please change name back to Oceana Theater! I stopped by today to look inside (mainly a NetCost Supermarket) with lots of interior design of the theater still there (moldings). There is still one theater upstairs, which they are now calling it the Oceana Theater!! Otherwise, all signage of Master Theater is gone!

2024 Update: Theater doesn’t hit the cleaning lights anymore while people are watching credits, since post covid. Also post covid, theater no longer masks the screens. All theaters have it set in one position. Theaters 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 11, 13 and 14 are all set to scope. Flat movies will show with bars on the sides. Theaters 8 and 9 are set to flat. So scope movies will show black bars on top and bottom. Theater 10 is RPX and has a fixed flat floating screen. Scope shows with black bars on top and bottom. Theater 12 is IMAX and has a fixed flat floating screen. Scope movies will show black bars on top and bottom too. Theater 6 is supposed to be a flat screen (since they aren’t enabling the masking feature) but they still have the masking on the sides wide open, which makes the flat movies show bars on sides and scope movies show with bars on sides AND on top and bottom!

As for ScreenX, it might come later in the future, along with a bar. Regal spent a lot on this conversion, and I think the budget must have been used up (considering they just came out of bankruptcy protection too).

@ridethectrain
Technically, the only “Loews” thing left is the Guest Services desk and sign. And the bathrooms on one side were not redone, but not necessarily “Loews” style. I believe they we’re remodeled once before when Regal first took over.

February 29th 2024 Theater is basically complete. They may go back in the future and redo the bathrooms on the other side of the complex, put in a bar, and changeover theater 2 to the promised screen x, but the theater is otherwise redone.

As a long time moviegoer to this theater over the years, it really does look AWESOME.

All screens are now fixed with the proper masking again (except for the two largest theaters 12 & 13 which are fixed to scope masking only).

They boast theater 12 as being the world’s largest 4dx auditorium.

RPX (Theater 13) Update:

01/31/2024

RPX Screen is now reconfigured. So now, scope movies fill the entire screen. Flat movies are screen centered and fill screen top to bottom with black bars on the sides (no masking).

As far as I can tell like, the 4DX screen in theater 12 is widescreen scope (also no masking for flat features). I believe it fills the entire screen for scope movies.

With the new year upon us, 2024, and construction in its final stages, this theater has changed it’s name for it’s new snazzy look. As of this weekend, Friday January 5th 2024, the Regal E-Walk will now be named Regal Times Square!

About the new RPX revamp in theater 13:

While the new RPX screen looks like it could have masking (screen is squared off by masking, instead of looking rounded at the ends and “free standing” like the usual floating screens). The movies playing so far, whether flat or scope, are still not masked. The advantage of this new screen is that scope movies are now have a better presentation. No longer are there “letterbox” bars at the and bottom. Only slight black on the sides. A more Fuller look. Slightly on the downside is that the old screen for flat movies filled the entire screen, but now is slightly pillarboxed in presentation. But you still have a large image onscreen. Much better for scope movies now.

As of Mid-June 2023, construction has indeed resumed. Now, early in early July 2023, its been a slow progression, but its getting there.

thehorror13 commented about AMC 34th Street 14 on Jul 3, 2023 at 12:43 pm

34th Street seems to be the current, go to, theater for Midtown at the moment ,between 34th, Empire 25, and E-Walk. They were the latest to get upgrades (recliners, more food options, large screens). Much newer looking than fading Empire 25, especially with the bedbugs. Once E-WALK completes their renovations, we will see how things go.

Replying to MovieguyNYC

Theater 1 indeed has no masking ability.
Theater 10 and 14 does have masking and should be in working order again. For a time, last year, 10 was out of order.

Theater 8 (Dolby) and Theater 13 (IMAX) has no masking abilities.bWhich is common for those formats.

All other theaters 2 - 7, 9 - 12, and 14 have masking.

There’s a very good likelihood that the theater will not close.

thehorror13 commented about Regal Union Square Stadium 17 on Jan 22, 2023 at 12:21 pm

I am not yet closing the book on this being the end of this Regal theater. Hopefully a new deal can be struck with the landlord for the Union Square. Previously other theaters were listed and then got a reprieval. Maybe here too.

If not, this location is crying out to be the city’s first Cinemark location!

thehorror13 commented about Regal Union Square Stadium 17 on Jan 21, 2023 at 12:53 pm

Also, people like having the recliners, and with the remodel they decided to keep regular seats to fit more people. But, the people aren’t coming in for the extra seats, except for the blockbuster titles.

thehorror13 commented about Regal Union Square Stadium 17 on Jan 21, 2023 at 12:51 pm

Union square has become LESS ATTRACTIVE since it’s remodel. They no longer have masking of the screens to match the flat or scope ratios. Also their screens have become SMALLER. Watching scope movies on most of their screens are now very unattractive. Especially in theaters 4, 5, and 12. Also, after remodel, many of the EXIT signs are in very bad places. Some screens, like theater 2, have the EXIT sign see through behind the movie screen.

The theater did indeed look like the drawing design in this article. It wasn’t until the theater had a makeover around June 7, 2002 that it changed. During that renovation, five more screens were added along with stadium seating in 12 of the now 14 auditoriums.

It looks like the new lobby has an area for a box office, but it’s not in use. There is a series of about eight kiosks in the lobby. People are told to go to concessions upstairs if paying by cash, etc..

Work is due to start soon on the theater upstairs. Rumors of a bar in the area of the old Coca Cola Freestyle to be made.

I was told yesterday that theater 12 will become the new auditorium for 4DX. And theater 2, which currently has 4DX, will become a ScreenX.

I assume that theater 12 will be changed first.

I just googled the address of the theater, 106 Court St, Brooklyn, NY 11201, and typed real estate. Looks like space at this address, 12 levels worth, which is what this theater has, is down as retail space available for lease. So it sounds like the theaters days are numbered. When, is anybody’s guess, but it looks like it’s been available for 7 months now. Who knows if the fate of the Barnes n Noble is numbered too. They are located next door in the same building.

thehorror13 commented about Regal UA Court Street Stadium 12 on Jan 15, 2022 at 9:49 am

As of Saturday January 15th 2021, theater is open and operating as normal. Posters inside we’re changed and feature NEW upcoming movies. Sunday has a very light schedule where most movies only have two early showtimes. Other new movies like Belle and Scream 5 have showings up till 8pm. Update: Showtimes for Monday thru Thursday January 20th have been added and are active for purchase. But only Belle and Scream 5 have showtimes, and all the others from the weekend are not posted. Theaters upstairs 9, 10 and 11 have screenings. It is possible that the theater will get a renovation and not close? No one at the theater is giving any good answers and seem “clueless” to any rumors. Unless they know something yet can’t say anything to the public.

To be continued…

Late Nov 2021/Early December 2021

Renovations begin to update E-Walk appearance to the new, updated Regal design (similar to Essex Crossing and the Union Square update). Work started on the entrance/box-office area first using the space previously used by Starbucks. The original entrance / box-office area closed around second week of December 2021. That space is supposedly going to a new Target coming next door.

Work stopped at top of lower escalators, with more changes to come.
