I live right around the corner from it now. I remember riding the old orange line and it’s so odd to see the street now. The tracks cast quite a shadow didn’t they?
That whole area has really changed. I remember the hillbilly ranch and playboy club in that area near park square and the old greyhound bus terminal. I wish there were some photos somewhere of them.
I remember that the upper balcony was closed but the lower one wasn’t and, there were rat in the there! One time I was on a date and we put our popcorn barrell down at our feet and within minutes there was a rat digging in to our barrell of popcorn!
I don’t remember seeing movies there even though I was told I did go with my family however, I have been the the resturant there and the house style rice is very good.
Oh Wow! I remember this and the Orson Wells in cambridge. I wish we had small theatres like these again.I remember seeing Marx Brothers triple features there and in cambridge.
I worked there in the 80’s. I remember Breakin and crush groove playing there and at the pi alley as well. It was my after school job and a lot of fun.

I remember seeing all the kung fu movies back in the 1970’s when I was kid at the symphony.
I saw Moulin Rouge in 2001. I think it may have been the last film shown there.

This will always be the Star Wars theatre for me. I have very fond memories of the charles.

Yes, it was really small. I saw Napolian Dynamight there. I think it was one of the last movies they showed there.
