First went to this with my future wife in 1989 to see batman. used to visit this theater, the one in the Northgate Mall, and the one above it on Hixon pike called The Litchfield. Saw a few more movies here. Was a good little theater.
This was once a new and great theater. As a kid in the 70s I saw Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back and also The Cat From Outer Space here. More movies in the 80s as a teenager. And many in the 90s with my wife like Forrest Gump in 94 among them. But after it became a discount theater only they never kept it up. It was nice to have a cheap place for movies but it was nasty and we stopped going. I do miss it though and my history with it.
Me and my wife saw Ghost here in 1990. I really cant remember the theater was we went at night and we only went that one time. We grew up going to Eastgate though. Wish I could say more on this place.
Best theater we ever went to. Loved it SO much. Saw many many movies here. The seats are the most comfortable anywhere. its kept clean too. Cant say enough good about this place. Can recall seeing The Dark Knight, Gran Torino, Star Wars 8 and 9, Rogue One, both Guardians of the galaxy movies and so many more.
Only went one time. It looked nice but we saw the latest Star Wars there..the first of the new ones in 2015 or so. It was not a good experience at all! We saw it in the supposedly big theater and digital all around. The seats were hard plastic and so uncomfortable, the sound was way loud and muddy like all the speakers were busted, and the movie was so dark in 3D with them trying to save their bulb it was just BAD.
Me and my wife went here a LOT in the 90s. I clearly remember seeing Kindergarten Cop here. That was back when the speaker hung on your window. The snack bar rocked too. We’d take our little chihuahua and he’d eat a bite of his hotdog then sleep through the movie.
Saying this theater opened in 1987 is incorrect. I lived near it and rode my bike over when they were building it. It opened in either 1984 or 1985. I saw the original Fright Night(1985) there, Top Gun(1986) and Reform School Girls(1986) all before meeting my wife in 1987. Also in the pic it shows Police Academy 3 and The Money Pit…both of which are 1986 films. Saw many movies there until it closed.
I can remember me and my wife going here some. I recall them having a reshowing of Return of the Living Dead we went to see here around 1989.
