If the community is agreed that Reel will do a good job then we will sit back and wait. If you need us, www.grandevenues.com Thanks and continued success. I am humbled and amazed at your patience.
Thank you, “State Theatre” for your kind words. We can be civil here. Gossip is always fun to read. Here is the truth. For the record, no one from Grande Venues or USA Parking or affiliated companies, including Paul Warshauer, Jon Tharnstrom, Lou Frangos, David Vosburgh, Allison DeVito or anyone else has agreed to “button up the theatre.” We did recently have problems with vandals and some pesky tresspassers who left a mess, cut locks, and pried open doors. We got nasty notes from the city but no offer to assist us. We are still evaluating the probability of success with feasibility studies. A movie theatre in the balcony, and a live theatre on the first floor with bar and restaurant in the basement looks promising. If you LIKE the idea, call the Mayor’s office, and anyone else and TELL them you wan the theate restored. We need a roof ($44,000) and temporary electric and plumbing ($15,000) right away if the theatre is to be saved. The public really has not stepped forward to help us. We tried to get the Youngstown Arts Council to “stay alive” but they voted to disband instead! Now we need a NEW 501c3 to form to help us. Any takers? Contact local officials!
Ok this is it then I hope that my name will not appear on this site again. You ask ME to apologize? For what? Who are you? I try to stay away but still nameless people hide in the bushes and slam my work and me personally. Have you worked on theatre restoraton? Name your projects, successess and failures. I try at least and I win some and lose some but I try. I don’t bitch from the sidelines. I am in the game. If you don’t play the game, don’t try and make the rules. This is supposed to be a site that discusses the THEATRE and restoration. Stick to helping them and stop scapegoating me. Have you even read the court papers to find out what this misguided board did to Mike Novelli and to me? If not, shut up and go away. Has anyone seen forward movement to open the Wheaton Grand Theatre since we left almost two years ago? NO. I try to stay away but YOU and others clearly have nothing positive to say so you keep bringing my name up and dragging it again and again through the mud. Let it go and I won’t visit this site again. I promise. Months go by then something triggers some new person to begin the slams again. We are all tired of it. TALK ABOUT THE THEATRE NOT THE PERSONALITIES.
So do I ever have a right to defend myself or my record anywhere or must I continually read the distortions and untruths here? I try to discuss the THEATRES and what plans they have. I will abide…
Remember, kids. It ain’t over till the fat lady sings. Our lawyer Mr. Chris Hass, will appeal…naturally. I could not agree more: What a waste of time and money. We are not in this for the money. Believe it or not I have a passion for saving old theatres. Why doesn’t the public focus on opening the Wheaton Grand Theatre and not on attacks of me or others who think ONE big theatre is a disaster waiting to happen in downtown Wheaton? Study other theatres. Study the theatre consultants. Study the City of Wheaton’s Walker Parking study. One question to the public: Why isn’t the theatre open yet? It appears that nothing has been done on the Wheaton in over a year! You are right: There are always more than two sides to every story. Dig in, folks. I will check in with you next year when the theatre isn’t open…again.
Trish & Ballerina & Others: We own the theatre and appreciate the public’s input however there is a great deal of misinformation. That will change this year as we assist some folks in the creation of a not-for-profit group and improve the website: www.lptheatre.com I am not sure why the owners of Cinema Treasures refuse to list our website as we are the legal owners of the property and have every intention of rehabilitating and operating the theatre. It will take years! Perhaps you can ask Cinema treasures why they refuse to list our site, as well. We have gone into the building with architects, (Ron Faniro of Youngstown & Gary Martinez from Washington DC) engineers, roofing specialists, city officials, historians and some volunteers. IT IS DANGEROUS AND NO ONE SHOULD ENTER; IT IS TRESPASSING AND COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY! I hope that Trish was authorized by someone to go in; (maybe the YSU class?) We have invested a great deal of time creating the business plan and model for operation. We have the complete support of city officials, historians, bankers and the folks at Youngstown State University. We had two press conferences and a BIG public forum coming in the next month or two for the public to ask questions and to finally get involved. The major issue is how to get a roof on the building to stop the damage and some electric to proviode lighting. A temporary roof will cost $40-50K and temporary electric service will cost $5K. Ideas?

…and the Lawford needs loving management. It could be successful but someone must truly adopt it and the City of Havana. This could be a great opportunity for retired couple.
Thank you Ron and the many others who shake their head and wonder what is this moron up to? Let us all get this idiot off of this site. He/she does nothing to advance the cause of theatre preservation or restoration. I posted this news story to tell everyone about a great documentary made by two brave film-makers from Omaha. Can’t we discuss the MOVIE? Why does this person persist? Get a life or better yet: Lifestooshort: go away.
Doug York is a plagarist and stole Murder Mysteries from me and lots of work from others. He ran away from Mt. Shasta, but I let it go. I write lots of Murder Mysteries. Regarding the chandeliers: It is easy to find out. Call Jasper or ask Carol Carlson, Curt Mangel, and Bob Boin. We all went to his Barrington house years ago and saw the chandeliers. It is easy to check out. But then again you seem hell bent to destroy me (and failing) and continue to remain hiding in the shadows spreading your lies and gossip. Get a Life…but wait, yours must be so boring you attack others for fun. You are a sad pathetic person. The question others should ask is what are you dong on THIS site when it discusses a movie premiere? Stay away and get a life. Who the hell do you think you are?
I take the restoration challenge every day. You don’t! That is sad. You lie, you create falsehoods, you have no clue of how much damage you do. Again for the record: The chandeliers from the Uptown are in the home of Jasper San Fellipe in Barrington and will remain there until the Uptown is at least 70% complete. Check court records that implicate Kenny Goldberg long before I got to work on the Uptown. You are such a jerk! Then check with the Friends of the Uptown. Grande Venues and its partners ARE doing the Youngstown, and finally, no one “went to Europe” at the time as you allege. What a malicious lying SOB you are! So, pal: Three strikes and you are finally out. Stay off of this site. Why don’t the owners of this site ban you finally once and for all? Be constructive. Do good not spread your disease on every site. Go away.
See? There you go again with your negativity. Jim Fields and his company made a great movie. I was honored to be able to assist. Watch the movie and start working with us instead of against us. Come to Youngstown and watch GVI’s success.
Libel involves the intent to do damage. You are trying to do that but losing badly. Judgements and lawsuits from unrelated business deals are not the issue. None of the above actions had to do with the Uptown Theatre. You muddy the waters again. If you have done any business in the city (which I doubt you have) you know lawsuits and litigation are part of the game. Have you seen the cases we have won? You don’t know me or have any idea who I am. Sad that you spend so much time attacking me when you could be helping the Uptown Theatre. For the last time and to clear my name: NO LAWSUIT EVER CAME TO REMOVE ME OR ACCUSED ME OF WRONG DOING WHILE I WAS CHAIRMAN OF THE UTCA, THE NOT FOR PROFIT ORGANIZATION! THAT WAS YOUR ALLEGATION. I ask again, like one of the posters earlier, what is your goal for the Uptown or do you just wish to bash others? I am not going away so get used to me trying to reopen the theatre. Listen to the Uptown Advisor and talk about this ISSUES. You keep hiding in the bushes and attacking but will not disclose who you are. If you are so frightened of me, call some friends and let’s sit down at the Uptown Starbucks like human beings and discuss our differences so we free up valuable space on this wonderful website. After some concerns, I met with frequent poster and theatre advocate Brian Wolf. He is a skeptic and we had a great meeting to discuss saving old theatres. Move on and discuss the theatre, PLEASE!
Webmaster: Please cut this person off. No “legal system” was involved. What Life said is most definitely libelous. I will contact my lawyer if this persists. This character slam comes from a total stranger and is totally unacceptable. For the record: No criminal acts or crimes were committed by me or any UTCA board member. No one was charged and I am insulted at your lies regarding all the good people who served on the UTCA Board. Yes, I am a champion to rstore the Uptown Theatre. Are YOU?? Enough us enough. Life: YOU have worn out your welcome here and refuse to discuss the theatre like we agreed! The movie was a student film and did not tell the whole story. Period. Everyone else has opinions about the movie and why aren’t they posting them? It was a good work to be sure.
Dear Uptown Advisor: Plain fact is Life doesn’t know squat but I agree with your message and sentiment. I agree to do what you ask. My last posting was in reference to the movie. Plain and simple. i hate to use the phrase but, “he started it!”
You see? Again you are off task. Stick to the issues. Stay focused on the goal and not on the players. The only controversy that ALL of the board members of the old UTCA left under was the lack of money and vision. I offered then and continue to try and offer today specific and productive ideas. “Life’s:” your comments are always negative. What have you offered positively lately? By the way: Mary Brush is smarter than all of us. No one bilked her. We have followed this tragic course of events for years. May we purchase this amazing theatre? Please call Kevin in our office (308) 384-6816.

Can’t you all move on? I have…
Tim: Thanks for all your hard work. Is there any way that a qualified investor can lease or purchase the theatre? Who does one contact?
So do I ever have a right to defend myself or my record anywhere or must I continually read the distortions and untruths here? I try to discuss the THEATRES and what plans they have. I will abide…
I love reading about people who have never met me or know of my work. Why not ask me directly instead of spreading malicious and useless gossip?

Any progress on restoration or opening?
