Rio Cinema Nottingham
View from rear stalls of the Rio. As viewed the auditorium was very narrow and although the seats were comfortable and finished in an art deco design with crimson moon crescents upon dark grey moquette. The main problem would have been viewing the small picture frame screen as the seating was not staggered. The small circle above was given linear passageways to the exit doors set into the splay walls. This was the very last cinema to be built in Nottingham before WW2. Later in the 1950’s a Cinemascope screen could not be installed because of the restricted screen area. The Rio closed in November 1959
