Photograph of the Regal facade July 1935. The Regal cinema was built by the County cinema chain with1756 seats, through the holding company Regal (Southampton) Ltd., opening Friday 22nd June 1934 also a month earlier in May the Plaza Northam was also taken over by Regal (Southampton) Ltd. The cinema restaurant was up and running then, a feature being the central set of three V windows 14ft high set above the entrance canopy allowing natural light to flood into the restaurant.
